This internship allows me to get on-air experience with both weather and traffic. I am working extensively with IBM's WSI MAX weather system building over 40 brand new graphics for our team to use within my first month of using the software. I am working closely alongside chief meteorologist Jason Smith and the entire weather team to continue to develop my skills for TV weather broadcasting.

WEATHER INTERN
Nexstar – WKRG-TV / Mobile, AL / May - August 2022
This internship experience engaged me in many routine roles at a television station. I worked closely with WKRG’s team of meteorologists during their daily activities at the station. I took a deep dive into the Baron Lynx software system building effective graphics for use on-air and within my own recordings. During my time at WKRG, I also went out in the field with reporters and meteorologists preparing packages and broadcasting live from the field.

This position involved issuing warnings and special weather information to businesses, industries and municipal governments in Alabama, Mississippi, and northwest Florida. Throughout my shift, I monitored radar across the region and looked for features meeting a certain warning criterion. Warnings were sent for high wind, hail, and tornadoes through an email warning service.
